Marvin Winans, Whitney Houston's Pastor, Carjacked and Robbed …

Although the pastor believes the men who assaulted him did not recognize him, he feels it would not have mattered if they did.

“And if they did, it didn’t make much difference,” said Winans, who has been active in civic issues, including taking a stand against the proliferation of strip clubs in Detroit’s neighborhoods.

Winans added: “Your life has to be bigger than sitting in a gas station and robbing innocent people.”

ABC affiliate WXYZ reports Pastor Winans’ carjacking incident — which took place in the middle of the afternoon — is happening more and more frequently in 2012.

Just months ago, security cameras at another Detroit gas station recorded video of an 86-year-old man who was carjacked as others passed by and ignored him.

Marvin Winans talks about being robbed in the video below:

Meet ‘The Voice’ Season 2 Winner

Winner has been chosen. The man with “The Voice” is 33-year-old family man Jermaine Paul from Team Blake Shelton. Before the show, Jermaine sang background for Alicia Keys. Now, he is clearly in the foreground. The sleep-deprived singer (he’s been awake since last night’s finale) checked in with USA TODAY the morning after winning the grand prize on NBC’s singing competition, a record deal.

Have you talked to Alicia Keys since winning?

She called me last night after they announced that I was the winner, when credits were rolling down. She was just screaming. (Going solo) is a step she’s been kinda pushing me to take.

Has she influenced you?

One thing I learned about being on road with Alicia is that some nights she didn’t have much voice at all. She let her emotions do the work. I want to have emotional songs like that.

Why did you decide to go on the show?

Against Me! Rocker Tom Gabel Comes Out as Transgender

Gabel tells the mag that he’s considering gender-reassignment surgery and will soon begin the transition by taking hormones and undergoing electrolysis.

The 31-year-old, who has a wife and a 2-year-old daughter, says he’s been suffering from gender dysphoria for years and explains that “growing up, my experience with transsexualism was nothing but shame.”

He plans to remain married but will now change his name to Laura Jane Grace.

“For me, the most terrifying thing about this was how she would accept the news,” he says of his wife, Heather . “But she’s been super-amazing and understanding.”

Gabel also adds that he’s prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. “I’m going to have embarrassing moments, and that won’t be fun,” he explains, but hopes that “people will understand and…be fairly kind.”

The Florida-born musician formed Against Me! in the late ’90s, and the band developed a fan following with the 2002 release Reinventing Axl Rose

Jessica Sanchez: ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’

. She blows Jimmy Iovine away at rehearsal. “You’re coming back now, and it looks like you’re doing really well,” he tells her.

“If the audience sees and the judges see what I saw, it could be game over,” Jimmy says.

So Jessica’s not a Tina Turner kind of diva. She is, however, a Jennifer Holliday/Jennifer Hudson kind of diva. Just much smaller. If this show’s still about big voices and glory notes, she vaults right to the top of the competition with this bravura performances. She’s got the notes, she’s got the attitude. Frankly, it’s her first performance in weeks that has really wowed me. Even knowing what she’s capable of, this is fantastic.

“Another winning performance, just over the top,” Steven says. “Tell me how you really feel.”

“Amazing,” Jessica replies.

“It feels like it’s going to be a real race to the finish,” Jennifer says.

Randy thinks she and Joshua are “in it to really win it.” Even Julian Lennon loved it, Randy points out. (He’s in the house.)

Richard Lugar loses primary to Tea Party challenger Mourdock

Sen. Richard Lugar – the longest-serving senator in Indiana history – will lose his Republican Senate primary on Tuesday to state Treasurer Richard Mourdock, CBS News projects.

With 62 percent of the expected vote in, the Tea Party-backed Mourdock leads Lugar 60 percent to 40 percent.

Lugar’s exit from the Senate could contribute to the further polarization of an already bitterly-divided Congress.

Lugar, 80, has served in the Senate since 1976. The top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he is known for his extensive work on crafting bipartisan foreign policy, which has included reaching across the aisle to pass legislation with Democrat Sam Nunn to disarm nuclear warheads in the former Soviet Union. Lugar’s willingness to work with Democrats made him a target: Mourdock ran ads showing President Obama discussing reaching out to Lugar as evidence that the six-term senator should be defeated.

The 60-year-old Mourdock, who told the New York Times it is “time for confrontation” as opposed to collegiality, also criticized Lugar for supporting the “Wall Street bailout,” President Obama’s Supreme Court nominees and raising the debt limit. His message was amplified by the Tea Party-aligned FreedomWorks, which held “activist training” sessions and made phone calls on Mourdock’s behalf, and the super PAC Club for Growth, which spent more than $1. Deflated Supermoon | Bad Astronomy | Discover Magazine

That’s a cool picture – I “measured” that image and the semi-major axis is 165 pixels and the semi-minor axis is 86 pixels … so a ratio of 1.92. I also looked at the Soichi Noguchi picture from May/2010 you mentioned and it was 310×139 for a ratio of 2.23.

By contrast, the picture I took of the full moon from my earth-based location – http://www.komar.org/sound-of-freedom/rocky-mountain-airport-airshow/#fullmoon – measured 1,234×1,111 pixels (having an effective focal length of 1,120mm helps!) for a ratio of 1.11.

Conclusion: While I also some flattening of the moon due to the atmospheric lens, the reality distortion field from the Republic of Boulder could not create as elliptical appearing moon as seen from the ISS!

Are you sure thats the moon ? I looks like the ufo from space invaders. You have heard me make refrence to space invaders , for those who were born after the gloden age of video games (1978-1986) . Continue reading ‘Supermoonrgb’

Reddit on CISPA: “People just want to know we give a shit …

As one of the more prominent and vocal opponents of anti-piracy legislation SOPA , social news site  Reddit has positioned itself as an organization that deeply cares about tech policy. But sometimes that can work against it.

For instance, last weekend the site’s users started organizing an elaborate Reddit-boycott due to unhappiness over the lack of attention Reddit management had given to the hotly debated cyber security bill CISPA.

CISPA, or the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act , seeks to give American companies more legal breathing room when collecting and sharing consumer/user data in the scope of Internet security threats. Essentially, the bill’s goal is to encourage companies to share information with the government that may help it fight and prevent cyber security attacks. But the language in the bill is far too vague when it comes to distinguishing how the government can use that information, leading critics to brand it as pure and unadulterated evil. The bill also doesn’t provide an adequate description of what’s considered a “security threat”.

The user uproar was undoubtedly fueled in part by the House’s rushed vote of approval for CISPA last week, which actually contained amendments that make the bill even more vague and degrading to privacy protections. Continue reading ‘Cispargb’

Nom!: I Hate Mondays Cake Pops!

For the second batch I made hearts, cherry blossom and Hello Kitty cake pops. The hearts I actually used a heart cutter to make them and after dipping them in chocolate, absolutely covered them in blue sprinkles and hundreds and thousands. The cherry blossoms ones caught my eye a while ago and I’m really happy I finally got around to trying them out. They looked really oriental and exotic I love the fine piping detail. Now I have to say the Hello Kitty ones might actually be my favourite, I just hope my niece never finds out I made them and she didn’t get one! This time I did make the ears from the cake before dipping them. The decoration was quite simply but effective too with black eyes and whiskers, a little yellow nose and a cute red bow, done! I’m sure my niece will be seeing some of these for her birthday they were so fun to make :) .

Secret Service sexcapade has also embarrassed Colombians

Surrounded by wall-mounted flatscreens playing continuous deafening music videos, male patrons at La Dolce Vita nightclub face rows of young women in high heels and miniskirts sitting or standing by the bar, some swaying to the salsa songs.

The women generally do not approach the men sitting at tables in the middle of the dark room, but occasionally one of the men stands up and asks one or more of the women to join him.

Then they order drinks and discuss business. Vicky, a 20-year-old clad in a mini-dress with large polka dots, offered sex for $120 per hour at a man’s hotel.

Hundreds of similar offers occur every night at dozens of nightclubs in this international resort on Colombia’s Caribbean coast 409 miles northwest of Bogotá, the capital. But La Dolce Vita, at the corner of First Street and Adm. Brión Avenue, sits one block from the Hotel Caribe, the epicenter of a mushrooming prostitution scandal involving 12 U.S. Continue reading ‘Secret Servicergb’

The croc comeback: As their numbers grow, so do encounters with people and pets

Fishing in a canal outside Homestead Bayfront Park not long ago, Ed
Castleberry fought hard to catch the biggest jack he’d ever hooked. But
something else also wanted his 15-pound trophy, something lurking beneath
the murky surface.

As the retired Miami-Dade firefighter reached down to land the fish, a dark
shadow passed under it, instantly followed by an explosion of water and the
scream of his reel as line zinged out.

An American crocodile at least 12 feet long had grabbed the jack. Ten minutes
later, the croc surfaced, crunching the fish between toothy jaws, then
gulping it down. It was like a scene from Jurassic Park, Castleberry joked.

“I’m just glad it wasn’t my hand,’’ he said.

Castleberry’s uncomfortably close call a few months ago was just one of an
increasing number of croc encounters across South Florida. Last month in Key
Largo, a 10-footer in a canal killed a 65-pound dog named Roxie. Continue reading ‘Lotto Numbersrgb’
